Best pitch presenter you’ve
ever seen
Carlos ‘Ocelot’ RoderíguezI don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so passionate about his organisation - take the 2019 World Finals
as an example. Watching Ocelot become overwhelmed with emotion on stage after G2 lost but still having the strength to congratulate the winners and his own team is
inspiring.
Best sports marketing campaign (that wasn’t yours)
The Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic and Intellectual Sports “Gamers Without Borders” campaign which ran throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, raising $10 million for Covid-19 relief funds.
Best agency (that isn’t yours)
G2 Esports – for the memes and cool merch if nothing else!
Best young industry talent
The bot laner for Mad Lions, Matyáš ‘Carzzy’ Orság. Not only is he reinventing standard gameplay, his skills are out of this world!
Best sporting event attended
Schalke 04 vs. Vitality at Riot Studios in Berlin. I booked my entire holiday around going to see this and it didn’t disappoint!
Best sporting event on TV
The 2019 LEC Spring Split Finals where G2 Esports
demolished Origen. It was the first ever League of Legends tournament I watched and it will always be a fond memory.

Best brand ambassador:
Tim ‘Nemesis’ Lipovšek for One Plus’ collaboration with
Fnatic. The guy is hilarious!
Best industry event or conference:
The 2017 Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. I vividly remember trying out the beta for Far Cry 4 and blowing myself up with a grenade in front of the developers. #ProGamer.
Best film containing a scene depicting the sports business:
Ready Player One. I
think the movie really epitomises how much video games can both bring people together and provide a welcome distraction from the outside world.
Best book recommendation:
The Silence of the Lambs, Thomas Harris.
Best bar or pub:
Hillhead Bookclub, Glasgow, UK.
Best restaurant:
Namu Korean Sushi, Glasgow, UK.
Best holiday resort:
Hakone, Japan. Who doesn’t love the idea of a geothermal
paradise nestled in the crater of an active volcano?
Best box set:
Once Upon a Time.
Best job in the sports biz:
Content creation. It’s great to be able to fuse your
creative juices with a topic that you’re passionate about.
Best professional regret:
As RuPaul Charles once said: “Don’t be sorry. Be fierce.
Best skill you most covet:
Technological skills. I wish I had the skills to be able to
build myself a gaming computer. I feel like the sense of achievement must be
amazing!
Best trait you admire in others:
Honesty. Even when it’s difficult, I always want
people to be honest with me in the same way I am with them.
Best overrated virtue:
Taking things too seriously. At the end of the day, we
play video games, let’s have fun!
Best ambition:
I want to keep spreading the message that esports is a legitimate sport. I want people to understand what gaming means to people, and the countless opportunities that it offers to those who would otherwise end up doing menial jobs. Finally, I want there to be a day where people don’t judge me for crying when my
team get 3 – 0’d in League of Legends.
Best influence on your career:
My undergraduate dissertation supervisor Dr. Iain Banks of Glasgow University. Throughout the past three years he has always reminded me that it’s okay to be me and chase my dreams, even when I’ve struggled. Words can’t express how thankful I am for his continued support.
Best dinner companions (min 4, max 6):
Rekkles, Caps, Bjergsen, Mikyx, Jankos and Faker – I reckon that could be some interesting conversation!
