Personal Best: Adam Greaves-Smith

General Manager (Womens)

Best sports marketing campaign:

There is one for me which still stands so fresh, I still get goosebumps when I watch it nearly two years later. “Don’t change your dream. Change the World” - The Nike Womens World Cup ad. Incredible, engaging and inspiring. I still do not believe they were trying to sell anything, other than dreams to young football fans!

Best young industry talent:

I will be cliché and say my Team Ops Executive. I would like to say she has been well taught, but it is all her own talent. Incredible passion for the game which is instilled in every piece of work she does.

Best sporting event attended:

Obviously the 2017 Open Championship... Am I being boring? Closely followed by the 2019 Champions League Final in Kiev – the atmosphere all week was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced.

Best sporting event on TV:

Superbowl, hands down. Just a pity about the time difference when you are trying to stay awake in work the next day!

Best film containing a scene depicting the sports business:

Moneyball is my go to sports film, subconsciously it probably led me into this industry.

Best book recommendation:

I have never been a partaker in self-help books, but I cannot put The Rules of Life by Richard Templar down at the moment. Or the Legend of Bagger Vance.

Best bar or pub:

Gibsons in Chicago, IL.

Best restaurant:

Villa Romana in Liverpool, amazing family-run traditional Italian restaurant tucked away in between Nightclubs.

Best holiday resort:

I’m more of an explore and get lost kind of traveller, there’s something a little claustrophobic about a resort. Right now, I’d take any holiday!

Best box set:

The Sopranos, just gets better with age.

Best influence on your career:

I’m going to say a boss I had several years ago, who taught me the art of resilience,self-motivation and a creative outlook. The worst situations can always create the best outcomes.

Best dinner companions (min 4, max 6):

Bruce Springsteen, Jacinda Ardern, George Foreman, Jenson Button and Oprah.

Best job in the sports biz:

Kit people! The absolute foundation stones who see, hear and know everything!

Best professional regret:

None. Every direction takes you onto an unknown path, it’s on you to make it a positive.

Best skill you most covet:

Resilience. It’s a strange old world, being able to take it as it comes is a gift.

Best trait you admire in others.

Organisation. It’s something I have to constantly work at and improve in comparison, something I always admire when I see.

Best overrated virtue:

Rationality. It can be completely relative and subjective.

Best ambition:

To be the best that I can be. Sounds simple, but it’s a life-long challenge.
