Personal Best: Emily Mills

Partner Services Executive

Best pitch presenter you’ve ever seen:

Bill Gates. More specifically his 2015 talk about ‘The Next Outbreak’, amazingly intelligent and forward thinking.

Best sports marketing campaign (that wasn’t yours):

adidas D Rose Jump Store. Love this campaign as it had minimal marketing spend and limited talent access but was extremely successful in igniting a passion for both adidas and Derrick Rose in young adults globally.

Best agency (that isn’t yours):

Really enjoyed the ONEIGHTY x England World Mental Health Day campaign that came out recently. An important subject that was captured brilliantly.

Best young industry talent:

Eleanor Sherry – leading the way with equality and diversity within sport and beyond.

Best sporting event attended:

Nottingham Varsity Ice Hockey – if you’ve been, you’ll know, if you haven’t it is carnage.

Best sporting event on TV:

The World Cup.

Best brand ambassador:

Marcus Rashford/Raheem Sterling, having genuine and authentic passions and views I think puts individuals like Marcus and Raheem as the most valuable brand ambassadors. If they are an ambassador, it is because they truly believe in the brand.

Best industry event or conference:

Not a specific event, but The Women’s Sport Collective puts on an incredible programme of events and speakers.

Best film containing a scene depicting the sports business:

Remember the Titans.

Best book recommendation:

Shoe Dog – Phil Knight.

Best bar or pub:

The Temple Bar, Dublin. What more could you want than an incredibly expensive
Guinness and live music?

Best restaurant:

I would choose a tiny tapas restaurant I went to in Lisbon – Taberna da Rua Das Flores.

Best holiday resort:

I went to The Four Seasons in Koh Samui which was incredible and don’t think anything could ever top that.

Best box set:

Money Heist.

Best dinner companions (min 4, max 6):

David Attenborough, Bill Gates, Michelle Obama, Bryson DeChambeau, Michael Jordan and Alex Scott.

Best job in the sports biz:

Professional Golfer. I have new-found interest in golf, and their lifestyle, frequent travel to sunny places, plus doing something they love could not get any better in my opinion.

Best professional regret:

Not continuing with learning Spanish after A-Level.

Best skill you most covet

Confident and engaging public speaking.

Best trait you admire in others:

Putting people at ease in stressful/high pressure situations.

Best overrated virtue:

Working long hours.

Best ambition

To always enjoy, look forward to and be passionate about the work I do.

Best influence on your career:

Although slightly clichéd, I would say my mum. She is incredibly successful within the medical world and has given me the drive and belief that you can achieve anything if you put the work in, while still keeping it real by suffering from Imposter Syndrome.
