David Rowan (founding editor-in-chief of Wired UK). Cool. Unassuming. And never fails to spark the room.

Best sports marketing campaign (that wasn’t yours):

There was a period of time that Nike football ads were the pinnacle of what we spoke about on the concrete playgrounds I grew up on. The Brazil airport ad probably pipped them all. Culturally persuasive.

Best agency (that isn’t yours):

The work YouGov Sport produce is always of a high standard. That and Charlie Dundas is quite possibly the nicest person in the industry.

Best young industry Talent:

I met Shurti Saujani of the ECB at an awards event and was blown away by the passion she exhibits for her job. She’s going to go far.

Best sporting event attended:

My first visit to Anfield was a spiritual experience. Outside of that, Ashes + Lords + Box = happiness.

Best sporting event on TV:

Champions League final.

Best brand ambassador:

Colin Kaepernick

Best industry event or conference:

Leaders, for the fact that it attracts the best and brightest from around the world into one handy-to-network venue.

Best film containing a scene depicting the sports business:

Any Given Sunday.

Best book recommendation:

Hooked by Nir Eyal.

Best bar or pub:

I have a particular affection for sports bars based in busy terminals or stations...

Best restaurant:

Sushi Samba. Lets all go right now.

Best holiday resort:

Anywhere close to Full Moon Party...wait, I’m not in my 20’s anymore am I....Ok, hanging out around Playa Del Carman is always a safe bet.

Best box set:

The Sopranos is in my opinion is the height of boxset wonderfulness.

Best influence on your career:

Sir John Hegarty. He always came to the table with a unique view, a positive mindset and an open heart.

Best dinner companions (min 4, max 6):

Barak Obama, Jurgen Klopp, Tiger Woods, Dali Lama, Snoop Dog and my son Artie.

Best job in the sports biz:

I’d imagine you’d probably have a load of fun running the NBA.

Best professional regret:

If I knew now what I did then I think my first business Squawka could have been far more successful...but then, it’s all a learning process.

Adaptability
