Personal Best: Terri Lynam

Customer Director

Best presenter you’ve ever seen:

There are so many, but I still remember the cricket commentary from Richie Benaud. It was his pronunciation, his absolute enthusiasm and love of the game that I remember as a kid and wanting to watch cricket growing up just to listen to him – oh and the Twelfth Man spoof made it even better! I also love Claire Balding – who doesn’t!

Best sports marketing campaign (that wasn’t yours):

I love This Girl Can.... Right message, right tone, right time – nailed it!

Best agency (that isn’t yours):

Ohhh this may cause some controversy given the agencies I am working with now (I love you) but I loved what Fifty Digital did during the RWC2019 in Japan, the social content was brilliant!

Best young industry talent:

Of course I would say this but my team has some pretty impressive young industry talent!

Best sporting event attended:

London 2012 Paralympics (the Channel 4 Superhumans campaign was also epic). Being in the stadium when Jonny Peacock, Dave Weir and Hannah Cockcroft won GOLD was amazing and so inspirational, first time I’ve ever supported a British squad (I’m Australian – so don’t tell anyone, they may not let me back in!)

Best sporting event on TV:

State of Origin in Australia or (State v State, QLD v NSW or Maroons v Blues or Toads v Cockroaches) – you can feel the rivalry in your living room, it’s electric!

Best brand ambassador:

Has to be Rodger Federer both for any brand he represents and for the brand of Tennis itself

Best industry event or conference:

Haven’t been to any in a while but I was looking forward to the Youth Marketing Conference. Hopefully we’ll get to attend at some point!

Best film containing a scene depicting the sports business:

The Blind Side

Best book recommendation:

Eat, Sweat, Play by Anna Kessel (I also like the Eat, Love, Pray version as well)

Best bar or pub:

I can’t remember it’s been so long.... But I do love the Bishop on the Bridge in Winchester – Terrace, River, Sunshine (occasionally) and the best beef burger I have ever tasted – BLISS!

Best holiday resort:

Anywhere they serve you cocktails directly to your sun lounger

Best box set:

House of Cards – we binged watched 6 seasons through lockdown. I don’t advocate killing people to get to the top but wow the drive and determination to succeed despite the moral cost – was grimly impressive!

Best influence on your career:

The decision to move to the UK – it completely changed the course of my life for the better!

Best dinner companions (min 4, max 6):

Amal Clooney, David Attenborough, Michelle Obama, Jacinda Ardern, Roger Federer and Ash Barty

Best job in the sports biz:

Mine, no mine is good, but I think being a ball person in whichever sport would be pretty awesome!

Best professional regret:

Not accepting a Communications job to work on the Sydney 2000 Olympics

Best skill you most covet:

Ability to talk to anyone and network effectively

Best trait you admire in others:

Honest, genuine authenticity

Best overrated virtue:

Generosity – if you are the one always giving!

Best ambition:

Continue to work on major sporting events, continually learning from new cultures and living half time on the Gold Coast and half time in the UK – endless summer! I’d also love to combine my interest in the environment with my love of sport....
